Week 6 - Woman arrested, accused of buying gun used to kill Colorado prison chief

Another catastrophic event happened in U.S. I can't believe why this event occurred and the criminal was woman. A 22 years old woman accused of purchasing gun and used to kill Colorado prison chief Tom Clements. Clements was killed at his home on March 19 and there were any motives to kill Tom Clements, no reasons to kill him.

It was a tragic affair to me because killing people without any motives is really insane because majority of criminals has bad relationship from person who killed. Woman didn't have any motives to kill that man. I sincerely ask people "do not kill someone" whether you are having bad feelings or not please stop.

This current event is related with American history. It was similar concept with 'The War of 1812' because US and Great Britain were fighting because of their self-respect and they didn't respect each other to finish treaty. US and Great Britain fought without reasons and Great Britain had no money to support 'The War of 1812'. The purpose of this war was to proclaim their power which
was fruitless.

Week 5 - 7 killed in explosion at Nevada Marine training exercise

This article is talking about tragic events, seven marines killed in explosion while Marine training was occurring. Usually, in military training there are countless of accidents happen without any cautions. It is extremely dangerous to see and especially to family. Marine represents said "this accident is extraordinary to the Marines." Reporter also said this situation is unusual. Majority of people encourages and feel sorry to marines' family.

This accident is extremely catastrophic to me because I heard many news about gun accident in Korea and US. However, seven marines were killed by mortar. How brutal to marines who died and related family. Everyone will know, explosion in front of soldiers and their bodies will scatter every place. I don't want to experience tragic affair and I feel sorry for seven marines and family.

This situation is related to Revolutionary War. George III sent British soldiers to suppress Patriot soldiers (militia). In Lexington, the first battle of Revolutionary War was started. The weird thing that happened in Battle of Lexington is we don't know which side shot first. Isn't it strange that we don't know British soldier shot or Militia shot first. Somewhere gunshot meet the ears of British and Militia, they began to fight. In both situation, we don't know who shot it first but it lead to tragic events.

Week 4 - Chosin: The epic Korean War battle Hollywood overlooked

Last 2 weeks, we had great tensions in Korean peninsula. North Korean government stimulated nuclear experiment ignored cautions of other countries. North Korea diffused the treaty in 1953, it means they'll declare a war in anytime. Majority of countries focused on Korean peninsula. Fortunately, nothing was happened.

The news article was talking about the Korean War in 1950 to remember how dangerous it was. Reporter interviewed with old man at a age of 20 volunteered as a solider. "after I survived countless of battles, I had to watch friends are dying and step on friends' body." He illustrated brutality of war and emphasized next generation needs preparation of another war.

Today teens in Korea aren't really focusing on history unless, they are preparing for quiz or something related to test. My father always reminded that history is crucial than today and remember accomplishments of the ancestors. I want to suggest, teens need to concentrate on history and pains of the ancestors.

This article is related to Revolutionary War in New England. American colonists aren't trained well as British soldiers, they were farmer, black smith, merchant, and unrelated to military. However, Colonists fought for their freedom and to protect homelands. While I was reading and studying American history; I realized humans want to protect their country, family, lands, and related to their properties.

Week 3 - Study links gun laws and lower gun morality

The article is about gun laws experienced a lower overall morality rate from firearms. "States that most laws have a 42% decreased rate of firearms fatalities compared to those with the least laws." said Dr, Eric, professor of Harvard Medical school. Most of the gun laws 40% reduction is related to murders and 37% reduction is related to suicides.

Today in U.S, numerous of citizens are still exposed from firearms. Once, I visited my friend's house to celebrate his birthday. He showed dad's room secretly and showed me a gun. I was culturally shocked at that time, in South Korea it was illegal to carry a gun. In this article mentioned in every states, they have different gun laws. It is difficult to regulate and tough to make a decision.

Article is related to U.S history because when English and other colonies were established, they needed guns to protect family, house, and lands. It was a proper action to carry guns. If Natives are assaulting settlers' houses then they will fight to survive. Especially for west frontier settlers guns were necessary to them.

Therefore, gun regulation became popular issue and government is trying to regulate guns but it is difficult to control.
