Week 5 - Security Council OKs Syria resolution, warns of consequences

Today, UN Security Council voted unanimously late Friday to eliminate its arsenal of chemical weapons. "Today's resolution will ensure that the elimination of the Syrian chemical weapons program happens as soon as possible and with the utmost transparency and accountability," Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said. The unanimous vote caused an issue to the world but the vote was based on the Syrian government used sarin nerve gas in an August 21 attack on a Damascus suburb and it killed at least 1,400 people.
Russia ordered Syria to eliminate of its chemical weapons arsenal. US President Barack Obama blamed Syria, using of its chemical weapons. Finally Syria announced, they will agree with Russia and US.

Week 4 - Kerry: Talks on Syria chemical weapons 'not a game'

Sergey Lavrov, Russian foreign minister and John Kerry, US secretary of state talks on ending Syrian control of its chemical began in Geneva.
Sergey Lavrov is saying "it is necessary to involve in Syria and resolve the Syrian Civil War in violence; US and Russia need to find peaceful way to end the Civil War." Russian Minister didn't mentioned to use force or not, but he wanted to finish this war with peace. John Kerry is saying "This is not a game." US strongly assert their position, negotiation with Syrian government failed and it is necessary to use forces.

President Obama needs agreement with legislature (congress) to start a war with Syrian government. Syrian government didn't care much about the civil rights of citizens. I oppose a war with Syrian government because US is having a bad time with economy; they need to focus on economy, not a war.

Week 3 - 5 things on Syria: Obama overseas to developments at home

President Barack Obama is considering to declare a war against Syrian government. He already warned Syrian government not to use chemical weapons to citizens. Use of chemical weapon is recognized as illegal and has to be out of bounce in international community. Obama went to Sweden to discuss about balancing development, jobs, and economy. However, Obama put that aside and asking countries, involved in G20, to declare a war against Syrian government or not. Russia is refusing to agree with Obama because government that supports Syria is Russia. It will the main point whether Russia and US gonna act.

I think US government, president Barack Obama is acting wrongly. US always involved in previous war since George Bush. Why US has to be international guard in the world? US government needs to focus on their economy and employment. People are suffering from economic difficulties. US government needs to make plans to recover the economy rather declare a war against Syrian government. Barack Obama is waiting the congress to declare a war.

Week 2 - Obama: U.S. concludes Syria carried out chemical weapons attacks

The Syrian Civil War leads international involvement of US, British, and UN. President Obama has concluded that Syrian government is using the chemical weapons to kill their own people. US received the evidence of using the chemical weapon and also UN got the videos and other resources are capable to dispute Syrian government. British government planned to pursue a resolution to authorize the use of force against Syria. It gave extreme tension to US and other countries are interest at the civil war. President Obama mentioned "I have not made a decision" We should watch repeatedly US will attack the Syrian government or not.

The Syrian government is not concerning individual rights of their citizens. If they care about the citizens so hard, the civil war was necessary to start? Fight with same nationality is ridiculous. I hope the Syrian Civil War will end soon.

week 1 - Don't let U.S. government read your e-mail

In 21th century, technology breakthrough rapidly. New weapons, electronic devices, culture, and systems were invented and change a lot. When internet was invented, it wasn't that popular. Internet was for US military to send a message each other from west to east. Few years later, Microsoft came out and different companies came out; internet began to develop more. Internet is really significant object and many smart systems invented. Users are sincerely using for searching, email, contact, study, etc. It became technological, internet and electronic devices.

Development of internet and computer making the world better place, in other hand, internet is using negatively. Internet leads users put into death and depression. Also it can uses as killing somebody or threatening the countries. That is why, US government and other countries government are trying to interpret the emails and information to prevent the situation. I think it is the good thing to do however, it can disturb personal privacy. Someone is observing your privacy and secret information, who will love to say "it's okay!" Nobody will say that. US government needs to stop interpreting our emails.

Week 16 - World War II German bomber raised from sea

An World War II German bomber was founded in the sea of England. It was lifted by the English channel and transported to the English museum.

"It has been lifted and is now safely on the barge and in one piece," Ajay Srivastava, a spokesman for RAF Museum

The Royal Air Force shot down the Dornier Do-17 twin-engine medium bomer of the German Luftwaffe on August 26, 1940, during the battle of Britain. It was one of the bomber produced in Germany, according to the RAF Museum.

Germany sent more than 400 Dornier 17s during the battle of Britain, but 200 were lost. Mostly Dornier 17s were melted and destroyed. The plan tried to lend on the sands in the channel off Kent, and the plane sank upside down in about 50 feet of war. Two crews died  and the pilot and another crew who survived from the crash captured and sent in Canada, according to the RAF Museum.

I was amused with this event because I've never seen the aircraft that was founded down the ocean. It will give a lot of information to search of this aircraft and great opportunity to people who are interested.

This event is related to US history because we learned about the Royal Air Force who fought for British government. It displays how hard and difficult to survive during the World War II.

Week 15 - Mexican-American boy's national anthem sparks racist comments

An 11 year old boy sang the national anthem at NBA Final Game 3. Crowds praised an 11 year old boy; social medias focused on him by singing the national anthem. However, there weren't only optimistic views from social medias; some users applied with negative comments.

"Why they got a Mexican kid singing the national anthem" Daniel Gilmore

"How you singing the national anthem looking like an illegal immigrant" Andre Lacey

"Why is a foreigner singing the national anthem. I realize that's San Antonio but that still ain't Mexico" Lewie Groh

"Who let this illegal alien sing our national anthem?" Matt Cyrus

The reaction of San Antonio was positive "I can't satisfy everyone."

I think this comments shows the dark part of United States of America. Majority of people treated him as a boy who sang the national anthem, but few people mistreated him and disputed some problems. I hope similar events will never happen again.

This event is related to US history, United States of American was the nation of freedom; everyone can share their thoughts and abilities. Many people immigrated to US for the future, but there were negative consequences confronted. KKK was the one who opposed the variety in US. US have the same controversial events that is happening today or in 20th century.

Week 14 - Lawyer: Soldier to plead guilty in killing of 16 Afghan villagers

Many US soldiers are suffering in Afghanistan and other places where dedicated to protect the countries. Sergeant Robert Bale are intending the guilty of killing 16 Afghanistan villagers to avoid the death penalty. Unfortunately, Bale is having a post traumatic stress disorder and resisted a traumatic brain injury during a prior development in Iraq. Afghan authorities proclaimed "He acted mass killing crime in Afghanistan and we would like to punish him according to what he had done." But Bale's lawyer said "Majority of the people are accusing my client but US army is escaping responsibility; we have consider the responsibility of US army who sent Bale to that place."

It is another tragic event happened, 16 Afghanistan villagers killed by Sergeant Robert Bale. It is justice to punish Sergeant Bale hard, but Bale is also suffering brain injury and traumatic stress disorder. It is really ambiguous to punish this soldier, after his illness cured, it will be good to punish him.

USA acted like world police who are protecting the world wide. Unfortunately, it lead to anti-US and many people around the world detest US. This event is related to Imperialism and Isolationism. In the past, similar event occurred and it will better to recognize the seriousness.

Week 13 - Spurs set to lose Joao Moutinho to Monaco in £59m double deal

Paris Sain Germain and Man City was rulling the world of soccer but new challenger appealed. Dmitry Rybolovlev, Russian billionaire  who owned the French money bag. AS Monaco became a new challenger in transfer market. In 10/11, AS Monaco was demoted from Ligue 1 to Ligue 2. It was a tragic event to fans of AS Monaco, but in 13/14 season AS Monaco will promote to Ligue with Russian billionaire  Dmitry Rybolovlev. His spending similar with Manchester City owner Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahysn. AS Monaco already signed the contracts with two Ace in FC Porto, James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho.

Mansour spent over 100 billion dollars to buy the players; for example, from Atletico Madrid: Sergio Augero spent almost 38 million pounds, from Barcelona: Yaya Toure spend almost 24 million pounds to, etc. He paid all the players over 10 million pounds which is impossible to normal owners. The new challenger will rule the world of soccer with Real Madrid, Man City, and PSG.

This article is related with US history, in World War 2 many immigrants migrated to America. Many immigrants had difficulties and conflicts with their home countries such as Eisenstein. Germans captured Jewish and put them into jail. So Eisenstein exiled from Germany and went to America. It gave a great opportunity to Eisenstein to express his knowledge. Similar with the two players; it will be hard job to adjust in foreign country, they will breakthrough and achieve what they want.

Week 12 - Atletico win steals spotlight from Real

The Copa del Rey final, two Madrid teams fought each other: Real Madrid CF and Atletico Madrid. Everyone one thought Real Madrid will receive the cup of Copa del Rey; the result was unexpected to world soccer fans. Atletico Madrid 2 - 1 Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid won the title, 30,000 fans shouted with excitement. Also it was the last match of Jose Mourinho; it was a shocking news for Real Madrid fans, they might despair. Because of disappointing result, fans of Los Merengues criticized Jose Mourinho; in 12/13 season, Real Madrid didn't receive any titles. In 11/12 season, they only got Liga BBVA titles; Jose Mourinho said "it was my worst season in my life." Fans of Los Colchoneros were delighted to celebrate what they received!

I'm not a fan of Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid but it was a big match and only source to Jose Mourinho to receive the title. But it wasn't easy; Atletico Madrid usually defeated by Real Madrid. This outcome was shocked and unexpected situation to me.

This event is correspond to US history, Los Merengues and Los Colchoneros are located in a same state, Madrid. They are having a hostility each other similar with Manchester United and Manchester City and Chelsea and Hot spurs. In 19th century, North America was separated into two sides: Union and Confederacy. The American Civil War caused enormous destruction in North America. Similar with USA, Aletico Madrid and Real Madrid are having a conflict with each other.

Week 11 - 'Mourinho or Moyes?' - Ferguson's potential successors

May 8 2013, Sir Alex Ferguson retired his fabulous career in Manchester United and he ran the club 27 years. His proclaim shocked the Red Devils' fans and players and everyone is respecting him as the greatest head coach in history. Even other head coaches from rival clubs deplored retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson. Since 1986 to 2013, he ran Manchester United enthusiastically nobody can't judge or criticize him.

Ferguson achieved more than 30 trophies, 20th titles, and two UCL titles. His career was extremely adventurous and extraordinary, no one can't touch his career.

He brought countless numbers of players, he lead most of the players to succeed; for example, Bekham, Ferdinand, Evra, Ronaldo, Schmeichel, Neville, Giggs, Cantona, Keane, and etc. There are many players I can't count it all and we have to treat him as the greatest and influential person in the world of soccer.

I felt sad when I heard the retirement of Ferguson because he brought Ji Sung Park, hero of Korean soccer, impressive to watch the Korean player running the Old Trafford on TV. Ji Sung Park transferred to QPR though, Ferguson treated Park well (he didn't treat Asian players well before). He will remain as the greatest coach in the world.

The retirement of Ferguson is related to US history. also the retirement of George Washington gave surprise to colonels. They begged Washington to make him work in the White House. I hope Ferguson will remain in the world of soccer, work as a anchor or something related to soccer. I want to see him until his death, adieu! Sir Alex Ferguson!

Week 10 - Who are Azamat Tazhayakov, Dias Kadyrbayev and Robel Phillipos?

2013 April 15, one of the most tragic event occurred in United States of America. Boston Marathon is one of the famous marathon in the world. Many marathoners attended at this event. Brothers from University of Dartmouth prepared for this tragic event in July 4 but they said bomb was already made, so they bombed early in Boston Marathon.

Luckily two suspects were captured by FBI (police). One of his brother age of 26 died while they are having a gun fight with police and younger brother ran away from that situation. However, police found out 3 suspects were arrested because they helped brothers for bombing Boston Marathon: Azamat Tazhaykaov, Dias Kadyrbayev, and Robel Philipos.

This event was dangerous, killed, and injured enormous numbers of runners. 3-4 people killed without any reasons which is sad to me. I will pray for them and please Rest In Peace.

This event is related to American history, Boston Massacre in 18th century. Boston Massacre influenced and it became the motivation of starting Revolutionary War. It caused colonists in one and made colonists as American. Because of this situation; Boston and other Americans became one.

Week 9 - Researchers: Jamestown settlers resorted to cannibalism

In 1607, English arrived in Eastern part of America. They didn't want conflicts with Spanish or other settlers came before. English settles didn't have ability to farm or to make plantation. They only need was the gold luckily, John Smith was risen as the leader of Jamestown. They had difficulties from Natives and hunger ,but he organized and structured James town settlers to survive.

In 1609, John Smith left James town for some reasons. After John left, James town didn't have the leader to lead. Between 1609-1610, tragic winter came through James town. They tried to eat everything that appears in wilderness. While hunting animals, Natives assault them. There were no foods to eat so they eat plants tasteless. Even meats and plants were gone, settlers killed people and eat human fleshes because there were no food.

Week 8 - Cal Poly Student From Santa Rosa Found Dead After Spring Break Party

Another tragic affair happened in California. Her name is Esme Ayala only 18 years old and she was having a party which is huge celebration in University of California, Santa Barbara. She was found in dead at a beach of Santa Barbara. She was just graduated from Santa Rosa High School and entered the college less than a year. Her body was found by jogger at 8:20 am. The result of an Autopsy Monday was pending toxicology tests, still its under investigation.

It was horrible event while I was reading an article. Personally, I like parties; people are dancing and feel the mood. It is really fun to celebrate and party, however, I couldn't believe this event that occurred. The party is a good celebration to release stresses and avoid the reality. I feel unfortunate to person who died.
This event is related to US history. Majority of people would think party is to drink beers and drugs, bring DJ to play the house music, and having dates with girls. Unfortunately, origin of party is not come from this concept. Party was a wholesome celebration and literally changed. US colonials were came from Britain and descendants of British (pretty much). That is why, George Washington and other people tried to have same celebration where Britain had. Party is to invite people, listen to quite music, and  to have commemoration.

      Once again, R.I.P Esme Ayala.

Week 7 - Media, stop trying to crown Hillary Clinton

Hillary Clinton was resigned from Department of state. But she didn't live as one of the citizens; she came back to politics. This month, Media anticipated Hillary Clinton will run for 2016 secretary of state elections. Without any anticipations, she is running for secretary of state. She advocated homosexual marriage which was unexpected.

Personally I supported Hillary Clinton, my family always discussed about celebrity. My father usually praised Hillary Clinton and tau
ght me to learn her characteristics. I always respected Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton was representation of first lady and women.

Hillary Clinton is related to US history, since United States of America was created nobody treated women respectfully only ignored them. That is why, many women tried to obtain appropriate rights from man but it wasn't easy. Still today in this earth, majority of women are suffering from abuse and discrimination. Hillary Clinton never submitted, she worked for women's right. Even though, she is woman I always adore her.

Week 6 - Woman arrested, accused of buying gun used to kill Colorado prison chief

Another catastrophic event happened in U.S. I can't believe why this event occurred and the criminal was woman. A 22 years old woman accused of purchasing gun and used to kill Colorado prison chief Tom Clements. Clements was killed at his home on March 19 and there were any motives to kill Tom Clements, no reasons to kill him.

It was a tragic affair to me because killing people without any motives is really insane because majority of criminals has bad relationship from person who killed. Woman didn't have any motives to kill that man. I sincerely ask people "do not kill someone" whether you are having bad feelings or not please stop.

This current event is related with American history. It was similar concept with 'The War of 1812' because US and Great Britain were fighting because of their self-respect and they didn't respect each other to finish treaty. US and Great Britain fought without reasons and Great Britain had no money to support 'The War of 1812'. The purpose of this war was to proclaim their power which
was fruitless.

Week 5 - 7 killed in explosion at Nevada Marine training exercise

This article is talking about tragic events, seven marines killed in explosion while Marine training was occurring. Usually, in military training there are countless of accidents happen without any cautions. It is extremely dangerous to see and especially to family. Marine represents said "this accident is extraordinary to the Marines." Reporter also said this situation is unusual. Majority of people encourages and feel sorry to marines' family.

This accident is extremely catastrophic to me because I heard many news about gun accident in Korea and US. However, seven marines were killed by mortar. How brutal to marines who died and related family. Everyone will know, explosion in front of soldiers and their bodies will scatter every place. I don't want to experience tragic affair and I feel sorry for seven marines and family.

This situation is related to Revolutionary War. George III sent British soldiers to suppress Patriot soldiers (militia). In Lexington, the first battle of Revolutionary War was started. The weird thing that happened in Battle of Lexington is we don't know which side shot first. Isn't it strange that we don't know British soldier shot or Militia shot first. Somewhere gunshot meet the ears of British and Militia, they began to fight. In both situation, we don't know who shot it first but it lead to tragic events.

Week 4 - Chosin: The epic Korean War battle Hollywood overlooked

Last 2 weeks, we had great tensions in Korean peninsula. North Korean government stimulated nuclear experiment ignored cautions of other countries. North Korea diffused the treaty in 1953, it means they'll declare a war in anytime. Majority of countries focused on Korean peninsula. Fortunately, nothing was happened.

The news article was talking about the Korean War in 1950 to remember how dangerous it was. Reporter interviewed with old man at a age of 20 volunteered as a solider. "after I survived countless of battles, I had to watch friends are dying and step on friends' body." He illustrated brutality of war and emphasized next generation needs preparation of another war.

Today teens in Korea aren't really focusing on history unless, they are preparing for quiz or something related to test. My father always reminded that history is crucial than today and remember accomplishments of the ancestors. I want to suggest, teens need to concentrate on history and pains of the ancestors.

This article is related to Revolutionary War in New England. American colonists aren't trained well as British soldiers, they were farmer, black smith, merchant, and unrelated to military. However, Colonists fought for their freedom and to protect homelands. While I was reading and studying American history; I realized humans want to protect their country, family, lands, and related to their properties.

Week 3 - Study links gun laws and lower gun morality

The article is about gun laws experienced a lower overall morality rate from firearms. "States that most laws have a 42% decreased rate of firearms fatalities compared to those with the least laws." said Dr, Eric, professor of Harvard Medical school. Most of the gun laws 40% reduction is related to murders and 37% reduction is related to suicides.

Today in U.S, numerous of citizens are still exposed from firearms. Once, I visited my friend's house to celebrate his birthday. He showed dad's room secretly and showed me a gun. I was culturally shocked at that time, in South Korea it was illegal to carry a gun. In this article mentioned in every states, they have different gun laws. It is difficult to regulate and tough to make a decision.

Article is related to U.S history because when English and other colonies were established, they needed guns to protect family, house, and lands. It was a proper action to carry guns. If Natives are assaulting settlers' houses then they will fight to survive. Especially for west frontier settlers guns were necessary to them.

Therefore, gun regulation became popular issue and government is trying to regulate guns but it is difficult to control.

Week 2 - Snowstorm loses steam, but still packs a punch from Missouri to Maine

Today, east coast had enormous amounts of snow especially Michigan to New England. The article starts with family separated several days. She and her husband had 19th anniversary. Unfortunately, they had separated because of snows. She said "I want to see if the cake will last that long without melting." This snowstorm is worst weather to the people who live in east coast. Snowstorm effected power lines and its difficult to walk around whether by car or by foot.

I don't want to live in that area. I lived in California, snow gave a hope and made me delight. However living in English Village, it is a worse situation in my life. 2-3 months, I saw the snows frequently. I can understand their feelings now, I hope snowstorm can stop soon.

In 17th century, village was established by the name of James the 1st. It was a first village in history that Englishmen made. Every students will know, how difficult to create a nothing to existence. Snowstorm is one of the disasters that English experienced and first year, almost 70% of them died. Week 1 - America's 'Slave Narratives' should shock us

This article is talking about the book displays and emphasizes on slavery during 30's-great depression (I think). In middle part, talks about women consumers would come around and jab in the stomach. If woman has a child, they brought  a good price.   I felt slavery was against the Christianity and man's morality after I read this article. Shot my heart hardly.

Chapter 1.3 talks about slave trades. West Africans had trade with Portuguese and other Europeans. Because of slave trades; West Africans began to fight and captured rival groups. Africans arrived in America to labor rigorously. It was one of the most tragic situations that Africans-American had.

I notice slavery and slave trade criticize human morality. After read this article, I felt slavery was a shame of human being. Remind me again to feel their pain. I want to regulate slavery to be unacceptable.
